Specialties:

I specialize in working with adults who suffer from trauma, depression and anxiety. These may have been caused by systemic oppression, stress belonging to a marginalized group, or intergenerational trauma. My clients tend to struggle with everyday worries, social anxieties, perfectionism, and high expectations.

Clinical Style & Theoretical Orientation:

I am person centered and work with the client through a systemic relational lens. I take into account how systems such as family, community and culture as well as oppressive systems, can have an impact on a person in how they navigate the world. I take an eclectic approach based on what the client’s needs are in the session. I use CBT to explore and challenge cognitive distortions. By challenging these distortions the hope is that it will have a positive impact on your emotions and behaviors. I also use psychodynamic and systemic relational approaches to explore a person’s childhood history and how early relationships have informed current relationships. In addition, I utilize trauma-informed therapy and EMDR in order to create a safe environment in which the client’s trauma can be explored without further retraumatizing the individual. Finally, I advocate for evidence based, realistic treatment strategies.
