Specialties

I specialize in working with adult professionals navigating anxiety, depression, and apathy experienced through various life transitions, including struggles with passion for work, difficulties in finding fulfilling relationships, and fatigue from the current way of living. As an immigrant myself, I also offer a wide range of support in multicultural and acculturation issues.

Clinical Style & Theoretical Orientation

I consider therapy a space for exploring and discovering oneself, as a deep self-understanding is the first inevitable step towards healing, change, and acceptance. I combine both free-form talking and structural analysis—the former to help the client present themselves fully and thoroughly without fear or feeling interfered with, and the latter to dive into discovering the thought/action patterns, emotions, and beliefs that drive clients in various life situations. I may also dive into the client’s past experiences and memorable episodes to further articulate how and why these driving factors were formed. Once specific areas of interest are clarified, identified, and agreed upon, I will work together with the client to experiment with new patterns of thinking or acting.

During the session with me, the clients would find themselves sharing what is on their minds in a peaceful, caring, and inviting space. Here, I will present myself as a warm, peaceful guide into your mind; a co-explorer to discover yourself with curiosity and generosity. You’ll feel that it’s a space for you, and you’re free to share anything, while gaining a more crisp and deeper understanding of your mind through conversation with me. I may draw from my own experience, including being a career changer, an immigrant, and a straight male who has experienced relationship struggles, to help navigate your situation. However, it is essential to keep focus on how the client’s own context and cultural background influence their unique state of mind.
