Emily Martin, MHC Fellow

Emily is originally from New Hampshire. She attended Bowdoin College in Maine, majoring in psychology and gender studies. Emily is currently studying Mental Health Counseling at Fordham University.

Emily is passionate about helping people navigate complex emotional worlds. She works with adults exploring their emotional lives related to reproductive health experiences. Emily counsels those experiencing perinatal loss, specifically abortion and miscarriage. Emily also enjoys working with those who outwardly project confidence and self assurance while experiencing stress, grief, depression, and anxiety.

Emily approaches therapy with a collaborative holistic lens. She aims to develop therapeutic relationships reflecting each client’s unique experience of life. Emily uses curiosity and humor to create therapeutic connections. Emily strives to help clients understand their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors during everyday experiences and the challenging times in their lives . Her work with clients enlightens the relationships between the physical and emotional self. Emily encourages clients to engage in body-focused practices and mindfulness techniques.

In her free time, Emily enjoys hiking, running, playing basketball, kickboxing, and meandering through nature. Emily has a special place in her heart for animal rescue and regularly fosters dogs waiting for their forever homes. Emily’s favorite thing about living and working in NYC is having community and culture everywhere. She loves to stumble upon hidden community gardens, niche bookstore, free comedy night, or an underrated food truck.
