LaKiesha Gonzalez, MSWI

Lakiesha Gonzalez was born and raised in the Bronx, New York. She earned her undergraduate Psychology degree from The College of New Rochelle and is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Social Work at Alliance University. Lakiesha’s has worked with underserved families, children, and adults suffering from mental health illnesses, substance abuse, domestic violence, those impacted by the criminal justice system, and the homeless. She is passionate about providing support to mothers as they work towards staying motivated and achieving success.

Lakiesha uses a strengths-based perspective approach, which allows for the client to build upon their strengths instead of focusing on their deficits. Lakiesha is knowledgeable about Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for anxiety, depression, and self-esteem issues. Lakiesha’s goal is for clients to feel empowered and gain the capacity to positively transform their current behaviors and thoughts.

In her spare time, Lakeisha enjoys going for walks, listening to music, and having spa days for her self-care practices. Lakiesha likes traveling, jumping double dutch, and doing step dance. Jumping, double dutch and step-dancing have both been a core part of her community since she was a young girl and she continues to engage with the youth in the community through extracurricular activities.

What Lakiesha enjoys most about living and working in the NYC metro area is the diverse population and culture that she can serve and experience. To give back to the community she donates and participates in back-to-school and holiday drives for children and families to alleviate the pressures that these families face throughout the year.
